As our Convocation keynote speaker, Dr. Ramón Pastrano reminded us, too often we mistake a failure of our systems to meet students where they are for a deficiency in students themselves. That should make designing accessible courses a vital part of faculty work. But where to start?

Event Details

Join the first workshop in our Teaching and Learning Series: Engaging the Students Entrusted to Our Care. This summer, we are bringing together faculty and campus partners to explore practical, mission-centered approaches to support the students entrusted to our care.

The series begins with Providing Effective Feedback, a workshop offered in partnership with the Writing Center and facilitated by Alex Urquhart. Feedback is one of the most powerful tools educators have for promoting learning, yet students often misunderstand or overlook instructor comments. Participants will explore strategies for providing feedback that is clear, specific, and actionable, learn how different types of comments influence student learning, and consider approaches that maximize impact while managing faculty workload.
