Welcome to Faculty Pub!

A brainchild of CELT, the Office of Writing, and philosophy faculty, Faculty Pub is a regularly occurring open time in the Cotter Café on the third floor of St. Mary’s Hall for faculty and academic staff to come together to support each others’ research, writing, and creative efforts, with an aim toward Pub-lishing. But of course if you have some other kind of project related to teaching or course development, you can bring that too. We don’t serve alcohol, but we do have coffee and usually something yummy to eat.

Time in the Pub is what you make of it. If you’re someone who likes to write socially, there is a coffee shop-like area where you can sit next to other people, write, and chat. If you’re “a loner, Dottie, a rebel” when it comes to writing, there is a quiet space next door in the Common Room.

We will occasionally conduct workshops at the Pub focusing on turning your idea or research into a grant proposal, turning a brilliant teaching idea into scholarship of teaching and learning, and sharing ideas from the intersection of teaching and writing. Forthcoming “PubTalks” will feature faculty and staff who have published work, gained grant funding, or incorporated innovative writing strategies into their teaching. The Pub space is also a common meeting place for PLCs and other faculty interest groups. But during scheduled Pub times, there is always a place where you can go and write away from all the faculty development.

There is no sign up for Pub. Just come on by!
